Signing in
Google, email and password, and how to switch between them.
You can sign in with Google or with an email address and password.
Which address to use
Your firm is identified by its email domain, so signing up with your work address is the short way in: the domain is read from it and you land straight in setup.
A personal address works too, it just costs you a step. Sign up with one and setup asks for the domain that tells us which people belong to your firm, plus an address at that domain to send a confirmation code to. Any mailbox there will do. That step is what stops someone claiming a firm they do not work at.
If a colleague has already created the account, ask them to invite you instead. An invitation works from any address and skips all of this.
Moving from Google to a password
If you signed up with Google, go to Settings, then Security and add a password. Once you have one you can sign in either way, and the option to disconnect Google becomes available.
The disconnect option stays greyed out until a password exists. That is deliberate: without one, disconnecting Google would leave you with no way back in.
Two-factor authentication
Under Settings, then Security. We recommend it for anyone who can see your firm’s research: a report names companies and people before the market knows about them.
If you cannot get in
Use the password reset link on the sign-in page. If the address you are trying is not the one your firm uses, ask a colleague to send you an invitation instead; joining an existing firm is always better than creating a second one that has none of your history in it.
